micki’s cornermicki’s media log · personal, slightly out of order
i’m micki. i write about films, books, music, anime, manga and games — usually once i’ve finished them, sometimes while i’m still making up my mind.

what belongs here
i forget details, even about things i loved. a title, a strange scene, the mood i was in — this gives me a way back to them.

the archive so far
A small snapshot of where curiosity has gone so far: how many things made it into the archive, how widely it has wandered, what was new and what felt worth returning to. It updates whenever a new entry is published.
curiosity counts more than a perfect score.
the recommendation experiment
i like being handed something i might never have picked for myself. send me the book you keep talking about, the odd film nobody else enjoyed, or the game that quietly ate your weekend.
i’ll follow what catches my interest and what i have time for. the pile is already taller than me, so i cannot promise to reach everything. that is fine. this is meant to make media more enjoyable, not turn it into another list of chores.
i’ll pick what sounds good to me
tell me the title and why you chose it.
whatever catches my attention goes next.

made by micki
this began as a private record because my memory has a habit of misplacing things. there are films i know i watched, books i know i loved and entire seasons that have somehow dissolved into two scenes and a vague feeling.
my taste follows no sensible order. i might jump from a manga to an old film, then write about the same series three times. some things keep reminding me of something new. others are simply places i like returning to because they feel good to be around.
writing a little about them makes me slow down. i notice more, remember more and end up feeling more grateful for the time, craft and strange decisions inside the things i choose.
i love streaming, ebooks and downloaded games. physical media is not a rule here; it is simply something i enjoy when money, space and common sense allow it. artwork, old cases and slightly battered copies make good objects to live with.
short-form content and doomscrolling are things we’re all a little too exposed to. i’m not going to sit here and pretend i never do it. i just want to take some of my memories back and sink more deeply into most of what i choose to watch, read, listen to and play.
somewhere along the way, this private notebook mutated into something i wanted to share. maybe someone else remembers the same odd scene, has the opposite opinion, or just wants another person to talk to about the thing they cannot stop thinking about.
the writing, photos and opinions here are mine. a few awkward edges are allowed to remain.
that’s really all this is.
